One of the most well known bar/night club in Bangkok is Sing Sing Theater. What is it like? What can you expect to find? Is it worth visiting? Here’s a quick guide to the Sing Sing Theater for locals and travllers.

Where is Sing Sing Theater?

It’s right in the centre of Bangkok. Sandwiched between the BTSs Phrom Phong and BTS Thong Lo (location). If you go to either BTS stations it’s only a 2-3 minutes walk from them.

The location is one of the main reasons why it’s such a popular bar/nightclub. Situated right in the toursit hot spot of Phrom Phong where you can find many other please that is popular for visitors. Such as the Malls: EmQuatier, Terminal 21. As well as places of interest, such as the Queen Sanskrit National Convention Centre.

What Kind of Bar/night Club is it?

It a very “westernised” bar/night club. It’s one of a few places in Thailand where you can go and “feel” as though you are in a night club in London or New York. And that’s by design.

The music they play is usually western, dance, top charts music. So you’ll be very familiar, and know the songs that are played if you’re from the west.

It’s very dark, with a lot of technical features. Such as UV lights, Smoke Machines, lazers, Performers. Everything you need to help you feel like you’re in a modern night club.

The decor has a High Class Chinese feel to it. Most of the seating is low, and separators between rooms and seating areas use the Chinese Oval shaped frames.

What kind of people can I expect to find there?

For Thai’s it mostly middle to upper class kids that you’ll find there. As well as office workers, white collar workers looking to blow off some steam.

For expats you’ll find a lot of them, they can be of any age.

Of course, there are some female worker looking for clients there, so keep an eye on the pretty girls that try to approach you, they might be asking for a business transaction.

Should I go?

Yes, if you want to “go out” for the night. It’s open till late, and after it closes there are many local Thai food places nearby where you can fill you stomach with something other than alcohol at that time.

No, if you’re not into clubbing.

Is it expensive?

Yes, it’s one of the most expensive places. But still a very affordable price. Beer start from 100-200 THB, but you can order cocktails which can go for 300-600 THB. And of course you can order a whole bottle, which will come with a table and mixers, they can start from 4,000 THB.

You will get a free drink for entering the club. The entrance fee is something like 200 THB.

What do I think about it?

Coming from London, I’m used to places like Sing Sing Theater. It’s actually a breath of fresh air to find a place like this, and others in Bangkok, it reminds me of the UK.

I think the prices are average for a bar/night club, and the music is good. The people are nice.

It’s very different from most of Thailand and Thai culture. If you’re ever been to a Thai Bar then you’ll know what I mean.

All in all, I’d recommend it if you’ve been in Thailand for a while and want something ‘familiar”.

Conclusion

A nice, “westernised” bar/night club. Can give you a feeling of being back home (if you’re from the west). And a lot of nice people. But be careful about the female workers looking for clients. And make sure to watch your spending, as you could easily spend a lot of THB’s there if you’re not careful.
